S-5!, the metal roof attachment solutions manufacturer, has promoted Shawn Haddock, its first-ever employee, to Vice President of Operations.
In his new role, S-5! Said Haddock is responsible for developing and training field application engineers who provide hands-on support to installers worldwide. Based in Texas, home to S-5!’s manufacturing facility, he will oversee quality and safety at the plant, manage the fulfillment department, and lead the IT department.
Haddock joined S-5! in 2001 alongside his father, Rob Haddock, the company’s CEO and founder. The younger Haddock began his career in marketing, taking on a diverse range of responsibilities — from answering phones and attending trade shows to handling advertising and creating artwork, among other duties.
As S-5! grew, Haddock devoted himself to the company, engaging in all facets of the business — R&D, sales, IT, and customer service. He improved his technical skills through computer classes, becoming “the tech expert,” and developed software to streamline operations while revamping the company’s website.
While transitioning into an operations role, Haddock oversaw IT, customer product support and internal product training. He worked with contractors to establish S-5!'s program for field application engineers, providing hands-on training for proper product installation and seeking ways to enhance offerings. Building strong customer relationships has always been a key aspect of his role.
To foster collaboration between the corporate office in Colorado Springs, Colo., and the Texas plant, Haddock began traveling between the two locations, gaining valuable insights into plant operations. In 2023, he permanently moved to Texas to further strengthen these connections.
Haddock is actively engaged with industry associations, including the Metal Construction Association, the Metal Building Manufacturers Association and the Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association, contributing to subcommittees and participating in educational training.
Currently, he serves on the MBMA Safety Committee. In 2017, he was honored with the MCA Young Movers & Shakers Award.
“The most rewarding aspect of my job is seeing how our team has grown this company to support so many families through employment and industry growth,” Haddock said. “Being part of a business that helps people succeed and provides a stable livelihood is incredibly fulfilling.”
Haddock noted that he looks forward to the day his own children will carry on the family legacy.
