GAF, ABC Supply Co. and Expert Roofing Services of Eugene, Ore., worked in tandem recently to provide the men’s campus of Adult and Teen Challenge, a nationally recognized residential recovery program for drug and alcohol addiction in Shedd, Ore., recently received a new roof.

Adult & Teen Challenge has been dedicated to helping individuals with addictions since 1958. Expert Roofing Services donated the installation and labor; GAF, alongside ABC Supply Co., donated the roofing materials, GAF said in a Dec. 5 news release.

The collaboration is part of GAF Community Matters, the company’s social impact initiative that partners with the communities it serves and operates in by leveraging roofing expertise, resources and products to help foster resiliency.

Jim and Amber Renfro, owners of Expert Roofing Services, and their son Jamie, the production manager, got involved after finding a leaky roof during a visit to the center. Due to their personal connection to the facility — the couple’s oldest son, Brandon, participated in the program — they were committed to making the necessary repairs.

“Life-controlling issues like addiction impact many families and the broader community,” Jim Renfro said. “We wanted to give back to the Adult & Teen Challenge campus, which plays a crucial role in restoring hope to those in need and supporting their families.”

Adult & Teen Challenge said it had received multiple quotes for a new gym roof, and each bid far outweighed the organization’s resources.

“So, we do what we always do — we gave it to God and prayed,” explained Troy and Krista Cunningham, the center’s executive leaders. “Words will never accurately share how thankful we are for this gift … [from] Expert Roofing, the Renfro family, GAF, and ABC Supply for their support to put hope within reach to the men in our program.”
