Manufacturer GAF recently joined The Contractors Association of Minnesota, the Disabled American Veterans Foundation of Minnesota, and Four Seasons Energy Efficient Roofing, Inc., based in Shoreview, Minn., to donate and install a new roof for a veteran in need in Robbinsdale, Minn.

In a news release, GAF said the veteran, Arthur Patterson, has over 30 years of service, including 14 years in active federal service with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 173rd Airborne Brigade and the 212th OTSB supporting SOF worldwide.

The manufacturer said Patterson’s 37-year-old roof was in major despair—experiencing leaks, shingle damage and more. Suffering from health challenges, Patterson and his family struggled to keep up with medical expenses and demanding work schedules. The serviceman reached out for support in repairing and restoring his roof ahead of the winter season.

CAM accepted the project, partnering with DAV and Four Seasons Roofing, which donated the labor; GAF donated all materials. The Four Seasons Roofing crew comprised fellow veterans who cleaned and repaired the chimney ahead of the cold Minnesota winter.

The collaboration is part of GAF's Community Matters initiative, which aims to positively impact local communities through roofing expertise, resources, and products that build resilience.

“As a Veteran, this project meant a lot to me and my crew, and we’re thrilled to have played a critical role in replacing this roof and helping out a local family”, said Nick Moen, owner and CEO of Four Seasons Energy Efficient Roofing, Inc.

“We are a group of fellow veterans on a mission to make other veterans’ lives easier and I’m really proud that we got to do that with this roof replacement project”, said Lauri Brooke, executive director of DAV.
