Kraton Corp. and Formosa Petrochemical Corporation announced on Monday the ISCC PLUS certification of their HSBC Joint Venture plant in Mailiao, Taiwan.
Kraton's Mailiao certification expands its portfolio of certified SBC manufacturing sites beyond Europe and North America into Asia.
The Taiwan facility can now produce up to 100% ISCC PLUS-certified renewable SBC under the CirKular+ ReNew Series, using the mass balance approach with ISCC PLUS-certified butadiene, styrene, and isoprene.
Kraton said the achievement strengthens its global presence, providing customers “unparalleled access to locally sourced, sustainable solutions” across three key continents.
"The certification of the Mailiao facility underscores Kraton's dedication to advancing the circular economy and providing customers with sustainable, innovative solutions as the global industry leader," shared Pedro Lopes, Kraton global vice president of Strategic Marketing, Product Management, and Supply Chain.
"Our well-established global monomer supplier network enables us to offer multiple solutions with up to 100% ISCC PLUS-certified content, tailored to customer needs for bio-circular, circular and bio-based waste,” Lopes added.
The CirKular+ ReNew Series offers ISCC PLUS-certified renewable polymers, further expanding Kraton's existing suite of CirKular+ solutions designed to advance the circular economy.
The ReNew Series provides a drop-in solution that lowers the cradle-to-gate carbon footprint compared to fossil-based products. Kraton also features an advanced life cycle assessment program and product carbon footprint modeling to meet specific customer needs.
Launched in 2020, the CirKular+ Compatibilization and Performance Enhancement Series offers innovative solutions for plastics upcycling and circular economy initiatives. It supports customers in transitioning to circular design using renewable and recycled materials, enhancing product performance, and reducing carbon footprints.
The ISCC PLUS certification at Kraton's Mailiao facility highlights the company's commitment to sustainability. Kraton leads in sustainable polymer innovation, using its expertise and advanced manufacturing to support the circular economy.
