In a time where operating efficiently is more important than ever, Ken Kelly, president of Kelly Roofing, laid out how roofing contractors can invigorate their businesses with an entrepreneurial operating system (EOS) during RC's Best of Best of Success webinar series.
Following health concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, RC canceled its 16th annual Best of Success conference originally planned for Dallas. In its place, RC is holding a web series that brings together some of the conference’s best-rated presenters and panelists to talk about best practices and the future of the industry.
In his presentation, Kelly walked through the six core components of his company's EOS — vision, data, process, traction, issues, and people — and how other contractors can transform their companies into successful and high-functioning operations following this method. Thanks to this system, Kelly Roofing, the 2019 Residential Contractor of the Year, flourished following Hurricane Irma and continues to thrive during the pandemic.
“You want your business plan to be so simple and so focused that it's easy to communicate to the organization and everybody can help you execute on it,” said Kelly. "Now that we have our core values, we can hire, fire, and decide what customers, vendors and outside sources we want to work for, or with. If they don't fit those values, we simply don't work with them. It's that simple."
Following Kelly’s presentation, the Roofing Technology Think Tank announced the second annual winner of its Innovator of the Year Award.
