Forbes has issued its 2023 “Forbes 400” list, tracking the wealthiest people in the United States. Amidst the expected names like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett, two spots are held by top-ranking women in building materials and supply companies.

This year’s list, according to Forbes, calculated the net worth of its entrants using stock prices from Sept. 8, 2023. It took a having a net worth of $2.9 billion to make it onto this year’s list, which is up from $2.7 billion in 2022.

Among those making this year’s list is Diane Hendricks, chair and co-founder of ABC Supply Co. Inc. Forbes reports her net worth as $19.3 billion, and her real-time net worth at $19.1 billion as of Oct. 18, placing her at 38 on the list.

Hendricks co-founded the roofing distribution giant with her late husband, Ken, in Beloit, Wis., in 1982. The company has more than 900 branch locations and an estimated $19.5 billion in revenue in 2022.

Aside from this year’s Forbes 400, the magazine ranked her at 1 on its 2023 America’s Self-Made Women list and 130 on its 2023 Billionaires list. She also earned a spot on the magazine’s “50 Over 50 – Entrepreneurs” list in 2022.

Maggie Hardy, owner and CEO of 84 Lumber, earned a spot on this year’s list as well. Forbes reported her net worth at $4.1 billion as of Oct. 18, ranking her at 278. Her father, Joseph Hardy, who died earlier this year at age 100, founded the business in 1956.
