ARMA Celebrates 2025 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards Winners at International Roofing Expo

March 31, 2025

The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association honored the winners of its 2025 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards at the International Roofing Expo, held Feb. 19-21 in San Antonio, Texas.

The annual awards program recognizes the top low- and steep-slope asphalt roofing projects across North America, celebrating the craftsmanship, durability, and aesthetic excellence that asphalt roofing can provide.

During the event, ARMA presented giant ceremonial checks to this year's Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award Winners and an official certificate to the Best-in-Class Award Winner.

Each medal-winning company received a monetary prize (Gold – $2,000; Silver – $1,000; Bronze – $500), along with recognition on ARMA’s website and social media platforms, industry authority-boosting materials, and national and local trade media exposure.

“The energy at the International Roofing Expo was electric as we recognized this year’s winners," said Reed Hitchcock, ARMA executive vice president. “The contractor recognitions were moments of pride — not just for the winners, but for the entire industry, as we celebrated the innovation and dedication that asphalt roofing professionals bring to the field every day."

Project Overview: Urban Grind Roofing LLC replaced a failing roof with CertainTeed's Grand Manor Shingles in Brownstone, known for their slate-like appearance. The steep 16/12 pitch required expert craftsmanship, including installing 34 custom-fabricated metal valleys and crickets to eliminate dead valleys. CertainTeed’s Class 4 impact-resistant, Class A fire-resistant shingles provide wind resistance up to 130 mph while offering a striking aesthetic.

Silver Award Winner

GPD Flatroofing Ltd. – Penn-co Office Steinbach (Steinbach, Manitoba)

 ARMA 2025 Silver

Project Overview: GPD Flatroofing Ltd. executed a state-of-the-art roofing solution for Penn-co Office's headquarters. Using Polyglass materials and heat-welded asphalt applications, the design ensures resilience against Manitoba’s severe winters. Despite challenges like high upstands and structural penetrations, the team’s precision delivered a robust, aesthetically appealing system that accommodates thermal expansion and contraction while enhancing architectural sophistication.

Bronze Award Winners

Cool Roofs – The Grand Manor on Johnson Road (Germantown, Tenn.)

Bronze 2025 Gold

Project Overview: Cool Roofs transformed The Grand Manor on Johnson Road using CertainTeed’s Grand Manor Shingles in Weathered Wood, enhancing the home's aesthetic and providing lasting protection. The project faced challenges in preserving landscaping and the swimming pool, so the team turned to solutions like a job site protection system and a lift machine. The homeowner chose lightweight asphalt shingles for their traditional charm and durability, resulting in a visually appealing, multi-layered shingle roof.

Stonebridge Roofing, Energy & Exteriors – The Bailey House (Fernandina Beach, Fla.)

Project Overview: Stonebridge Roofing, Energy & Exteriors restored The Bailey House, an 8,000-square-foot Queen Anne Victorian built in 1895 in Fernandina Beach’s historic district. This project required special permitting due to strict preservation standards and involved navigating a steep roof while protecting stained-glass windows. The team installed GAF Timberline HDZ Shingles in Slate, resulting in a historically preserved, weather-resistant roof that will last for generations.

Best-in-Class Award Winner: Craftsmanship Category

Elevated Roofing and Siding – Stubbs Park Amphitheater (Centerville, Ohio)

ARMA 2025 Best-in-Class

Project Overview: As part of the renovation of Stubbs Park, Elevated Roofing and Siding transformed the amphitheater’s aging roof while integrating upgrades for sound, lighting, and accessibility. The curved, angular design of the amphitheater posed unique challenges, which were met with precision and creativity. Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Shingles in Driftwood were chosen for their flexibility and weather resistance, ensuring long-term protection.

The International Roofing Expo provided the perfect backdrop to celebrate these industry awards, with attendees engaging in networking opportunities, photo sessions, and discussions on the latest advancements in asphalt roofing.
