Air Barrier From STS Coatings Passes ASTM E-84 Fire Test With Class A Rating

COMFORT, Texas — FW-100A, an acrylic air barrier from STS Coatings, has passed the ASTM E-84 fire test earning a Class A rating with a flame spread index of 20 and a smoke develop index of 25. Testing was conducted by Intertek Testing Services.

Wall Guardian FW-100A is a fluid applied, water-based, vapor-permeable air barrier assembly that has passed the NFPA 285 fire rating that gives the highest peace of mind for fire safety and includes E-84 Class A flashings. In addition, FW-100A has been evaluated by the ABAA at 40 mils wet film thickness and contains 25 percent recycled content. There are several LEED Contribution categories for FW-100A including: LEED EA (Energy & Atmosphere), MR (Recycle Content), IAQ (Indoor Air Quality), and ID (Innovative Design).
