January 3, 2024

Just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Norman, Okla. firefighters responded to reports of a roof fire on one of the buildings at the University of Oklahoma; after arriving, crews reportedly found a tar kettle on fire outside one of OU’s buildings.

Authorities said the fire was contained to the outside of the building and was extinguished, adding that it continued to smoke because of the temperature and the product that caught fire.

Norman Fire Department officials posted pictures of the fire, showing a piece of equipment engulfed in flames and multiple crews at the scene.

Officials said no injuries have been reported.
