Roofing contractors who purchase special sheathing boards from CertainTeed over the next year will contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
CertainTeed announced that a percentage of sales from each co-branded GlasRoc Sheathing board — displaying the iconic pink ribbon — to the Susan G. Komen foundation, a breast cancer foundation in the United States. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, CertainTeed is holding this fundraiser from October 2024 to October 2025. The manufacturer has guaranteed a minimum donation of $120,000. The contributions will fund breast cancer awareness, medical research and provide support for those affected by the disease.
In 2024, it's estimated there will be 310,720 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women, 56,500 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ — a non-invasive breast cancer — and 42,250 breast cancer deaths.
CertainTeed Vice President of Corporate Marketing and breast cancer survivor, Kate Paine, attended the ringing of the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange alongside Susan G. Komen's President and CEO, Paula Schneider.
“What a privilege to represent CertainTeed as we rang the bell with Susan G. Komen to open trading on the NYSE," said Paine. "[Susan G. Komen] has such an incredible scale and has galvanized millions around the world to fight breast cancer through early detection and prevention, medical research, and advocacy. I was so proud to represent our GlasRoc branded partnership, with proceeds from every single board of GlasRoc sheathing sold in the U.S. benefitting this cause.
"GlasRoc is one of our most popular products, and the scale of our partnership has a wide impact on many lives, giving the gift of life to our daughters, sisters and mothers,” added Paine.
