One of the things we look forward to here at Roofing Contractor magazine is the International Roofing Expo’s annual Construction Management Student Competition, sponsored by the Roofing Alliance. The 10 teams competing for a spot at the 11th annual tourney next February in San Antonio, Texas, were just announced.
The Roofing Alliance said the Student Competition fosters an environment that brings out the best in each team while promoting careers in roofing industry management and providing a significant learning opportunity.
The contest encourages dialogue among the students and promotes team spirit as the students rise to meet the challenge. The CMSC features multiple teams of four college students testing their roofing, project management, estimating, safety, quality control and presentation skills.
The following 10 schools have indicated their intent to participate in the 11th annual student competition:
- Auburn University, Auburn, Ala.
- Bradley University, Peoria, Ill.
- California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Calif.
- Clemson University, Clemson, S.C.
- Florida Gulf Coast University, Fort Myers, Fla.
- Illinois State University, Normal, Ill.
- Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La.
- Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas
- University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla.
- University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Fla.
The teams will submit a qualified bid package for the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel. Competition judges will review the proposals, and finalist teams will be announced in January 2025.
Finalist teams will present on Feb. 20 during the International Roofing Expo in San Antonio. Winners will be announced that evening at the National Roofing Contractors Association Industry Awards and Reception.
