Making Metal Matter: A Preview of METALCON 2024

METALCON 2024 is coming up on Oct. 30-Nov. 1, and attendees looking for where to best spend their time during the three-day trade show can hear it from one of the show’s top brass, Judy Geller.

Established in 1991, METALCON is an annual tradeshow and conference devoted to the application of metal in design and construction. Judy Geller, vice president of METALCON, shares all the details on what attendees should know and can look forward to during this year’s convention.

“We know there are a lot of people who have been coming to METALCON for many years, but we've really put a lot of new networking opportunities into the event,” Geller said.

Among those include: a “Speed Networking” event; a Future Leaders Friday program for attendees ages 40 and under to mingle and level up their careers; and a “Metal and Mimosas” event for women in the metal construction industry to meet like-minded peers. Seeing as how the event takes place during Halloween, event coordinators are hosting a “Trick or Tee” 19th Hole Reception and Hall of Fame ceremony on Oct. 31.

Education is, of course, a priority for METALCON as well, with the return of its Training Zone for hands-on demonstrations and sessions focusing on everything from technical details to one about how severe storms have impacted the construction industry.

Learn more about this year’s keynote speakers as well, with each day of the event headlined by NFL legend Joe Theismann, construction industry expert Anirban Basu, and back by popular demand, Dr. Melissa Furman to speak about leadership.

Geller also shares details about a walking tour that will highlight some of the great local projects that used metal to great effect, including the College Football Hall of Fame. The tour will be led by Zeke Miller, president of MillerClapperton and an industry vet of 34 years.

“We do encourage people to sign up because we’re limited to 50 participants,” Geller said.
