The team at Exterior Point Home Remodeling based in Tinton Falls, N.J., recently sponsored the annual Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk in Point Pleasant hosted by the American Cancer Society. They joined thousands of people to celebrate cancer survivors, remember and honor those who lost their battles with the disease, and to fundraise for more crucial research.
Owner Stephen Meares said it was the first time the company participated in an official capacity as a sponsor. Company officials were motivated this year after learning some of their team members and their loved ones have been touched by the disease, and that personal connection sparked a desire to help.
“We got involved with the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Walk because, like so many, we have seen firsthand how breast cancer affects families and communities,” Meares said.
“As we are growing as a company, we feel an inherent need to give back to the communities we serve.”
Four employees worked the event, and the company also sponsored a “Mile Marker,” giving them the responsibility of handing out breast cancer information, flyers, and bottles of water to walkers.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is internationally recognized and held every October to raise awareness about breast cancer and generate funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.
Supporting this foundation allows the company to give back in a meaningful way, help raise community awareness and funds for a cause that impacts countless lives. Meares said it is something he sees the company doing again.
“We believe that being part of the community means more than just providing roofing services—it’s about actively contributing to the well-being of the people we serve,” Meares said. “Cancer touches everyone, either directly or through loved ones, and as a company, we want to stand with those affected.”
