IRE 2025 Session Preview
The State of Roofing 2025: A Deep Dive into the State of the Industry
Take a closer look at Roofing Contractor’s exclusive annual survey data with the research team that designed it and Legal Insights columnist Trent Cotney

There is a lot of optimism in the roofing space right now, and for good reason. The demand and volume of jobs in both the residential and commercial roofing sectors appear to be stable, despite challenges like interest rates, lingering inflation and stagnation in some new construction marketplaces.
The pro-business philosophies of the new Trump administration and defanged approach to recent regulatory initiatives also contribute to this hopefulness. Yet, there are legitimate concerns that new approaches to immigration and international tariffs could shift much of that positive momentum in an instant.
Roofing contractors trying to balance it all weighed in on those topics and more in RC’s annual State of the Industry survey. Issued last fall, the online survey again asked roofers and industry stakeholders for insights into the issues, products and innovations driving the marketplace. As usual, the results provided interesting highlights showing changes in the roofing industry.

The annual survey and its resulting data are the basis for Roofing Contractor's comprehensive 2025 State of the Industry report, which is part of the February eMagazine, and in print editions available at RC’s Booth (#9095) and at other locations on the IRE show floor.
The full report will be analyzed during a data-driven State of the Industry webinar hosted by RC, its research partner myCLEARopinion Insights Hub, sponsored by the law firm Adams and Reese at 2 p.m. (EST) on Feb. 27. Register now here.
Roofing professionals from all industry segments can get a preview of the webinar on the opening day of the International Roofing Expo.
Trent Cotney, partner with Adams and Reese, will join RC Publisher Jill Bloom, Editor-in-Chief Art Aisner and myCLEARopinion Insights Hub research team members to help break down the meaningful data from this year’s survey.
The panel will also synthesize what the data means, what contractors are worried about moving forward, and what they should incorporate into their business to drive future success.
“This data becomes more and more relevant every year as we continue to change as an industry and look to address some of roofing’s biggest issues,” said Cotney said.
After more than a decade of providing the exclusive research, Bloom said she’s always impressed by the discussions the data prompts among those that attend IRE, whether they be about technology, subcontractors or any host of subjects.
“We look forward to doing this research every year not only as a way to connect with the roofing entrepreneurs driving the industry, but to really try and gauge what their pain points are, what they will be, and how we can work together to take those challenges on,” Bloom said.
In addition to an interactive presentation of the survey results, attendees will also get first-hand insight from industry experts on market performance, emerging trends, and much more.
