Georgia-Pacific introduced DensDeck ProFast Prime Roof Board at the 2025 International Roofing Expo in San Antonio, a cutting-edge innovation in gypsum-based cover boards.
The lighter-weight solution is designed to create more efficiency in roofing installations by reducing the need for fasteners by 30%-50%, which can significantly lower both material and labor costs. With its lightweight construction, the board offers easy handling and installation without sacrificing strength or durability.

Measuring 3/8-inches in thickness, this fiberglass mat-reinforced gypsum cover board is approximately 20% lighter than the traditional half-inch DensDeck Prime, yet it maintains robust resistance to fire, wind uplift, punctures, foot traffic, and hail.1 DensDeck ProFast Prime is engineered to deliver exceptional performance, making it an ideal choice for efficient and durable roofing projects.
At its booth, attendees learned about the product through an interactive puncture display, showcasing how both DensDeck Roof Board and other types of cover board solutions stand up to punctures. Attendees can also obtain complete information on the use of DensDeck Roof Board as the ideal technical solution to meet the growing demand for commercial rooftops to be solar-ready, including a presentation on “solar readiness” by Hamed Kayello-DensDeck Roof Board Product manager.
Georgia-Pacific also has details about its successful case studies where the products protected structures in the Texas very severe hail zone. DensDeck StormX Prime Roof Board was recently awarded the 2024 Global Gypsum Product of the Year at the 2024 Global Gypsum Conference & Exhibition.

1. DensDeck ProFast Prime is approximately 20% lighter than half-inch DensDeck Prime Roof Board. The 30%-50% reduction in fasteners is based on third-party testing with multiple roofing assemblies using #15 fasteners and 3-inch metal flat bottom plates.
