Strength in Numbers
Why Roofing Day 2025 Matters More Than Ever
The roofing industry’s annual fly-in advocacy event April 8-9 takes on bigger meaning as change sweeps across Washington D.C.

Each year, The National Roofing Contractors Associaiton (NRCA)’s Roofing Day in Washington, D.C. reminds me of a fundamental truth: our industry is stronger when we stand together. As roofing professionals, we work tirelessly to build, protect, and innovate—but when it comes to shaping the policies that impact our businesses, workforce, and future, our voices must be heard beyond the job site.
The Hon. Reid Ribble launched Roofing Day in 2018 because, during his time in Congress, he saw firsthand how other trades—plumbers, electricians, and more—showed up to advocate for their industries. But roofing was nowhere to be found. As a former roofing company owner in Wisconsin before serving three terms in Congress, Reid understood the power of having a seat at the table, and he made it his mission to ensure our industry’s voice was heard.
One of the biggest challenges we need to address is the skilled labor shortage. We must push for more funding for shop classes, greater support for SkillsUSA, and better education pathways for high school students who know college isn’t for them. The trades offer incredible opportunities—good wages, career stability, and the chance to build something meaningful. Skills USA is something RC Editor Emeritus Rick Damato has been very passionate about over the years.
Roofing Day isn’t just another event—it’s our opportunity to walk the halls of Congress and make sure lawmakers understand the challenges we face. From workforce development and immigration reform to regulatory burdens. These issues affect every contractor, manufacturer, and supplier in our industry. The more of us who show up, the louder our message becomes.
I’ve seen firsthand how Roofing Day unites our industry, and even first-time attendees under a common cause. The conversations we have in Washington, D.C., don’t just stay there—they influence policies that shape the industry for years to come. And in 2025 it’s more critical than ever to engage.
Whether you’ve attended before or are considering going for the first time, I encourage you to be part of this movement. Let’s make sure Congress sees the importance of investing in the trades—because the future of roofing, and all skilled labor industries, depends on it. Your presence makes a difference.
I hope to see you there.
