For the second year in a row, Construction Safety Week and OSHA will partner to promote safety in the industry from May 5 to 9.
The construction industry is one of the largest employment sectors. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2023, 39.2% of workplace deaths in the industry were due to falls, slips, and trips. This data suggests that organizations must be committed to improving safety culture across the industry and raising awareness of serious injuries and fatalities.
Construction Safety Week, an industry-wide initiative, emphasizes the importance of working together to build a stronger, safer industry.
Happening May 5-9, 2025, this year's theme, "All in Together," focuses on three key pillars:
- Plan
- Own
- Commit
During the same week, OSHA is hosting its 12th National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction to raise fall hazard awareness and stop fall fatalities and injuries.
Through this partnership, Construction Safety Week and OSHA are joining efforts to pause work on sites throughout the U.S. on May 7, creating the largest industry-wide construction stand-down.
If companies cannot participate on May 7, they are invited to stand down any time during the week of May 5-9 and join the national effort to build a stronger and safer industry together.
“We are looking forward to partnering with OSHA again this year in our efforts to promote safety across the industry. The number of potentially preventable deaths in our field is staggering, and we are committed to working together to spread awareness and reduce those numbers,” said Mike Choutka, CEO Hensel Phelps and 2025 Construction Safety Week Chair.
“This year, we are All in Together and dedicated to helping everyone who works in the industry to come home safely to their loved ones every day," Choutka added. "Standing down together is one way we can join efforts and make a difference."
Join thousands of peers across the industry on Wednesday, May 7, to demonstrate support for preventing injuries and fatalities in construction.
