Owens Corning, Toledo, Ohio, promoted David T. Brown, head of the company's Insulation Systems Business, to chief operating officer. He replaces Domenico Cecere. Brown has been with the company since 1978, and also has been president of its Roofing and Asphalt division.
Brown will report directly to chairman and CEO Glen H. Hiner. ``Dave brings enormous credibility and experience with him as he assumes his new position,'' Hiner said. ``His immediate objective will be to ensure that our company stays focused on profitable, global growth through execution and teamwork.'' Brown will remain the acting president of the Insulating Systems Business until a successor is named.
“The company has put together a good team and a good business plan,” said Brown in an interview with Roofing Contractor. “My job is to make sure we deliver.” A broad commitment to communications is the cornerstone of this approach. When asked what contractors should expect from Owens Corning in light of the company filing for Chapter 11 last year, Brown stressed that there are absolutely no problems with manufacturing and service facilities and that retailers are fully stocked. “Contractors should know that we are open for business and ready to take orders.”
