GAF announces plans to build new shingle plant.

GAF Materials Corp., Wayne, N.J., announces plans to build a new high speed, state-of-the-art shingle manufacturing facility to support continued growth in the Northeast and Canadian markets. The company is evaluating plant sites in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and two other states, with final site selection expected in the second quarter of this year. The new manufacturing facility is expected to be completed in early 2006. With additional laminate capacity expansions to be finished by mid 2004 at the company's existing plants at Millis, Mass., Dallas, and Mt. Vernon, Ind., GAF's laminate manufacturing capacity will increase by more than 30 percent, and total shingle manufacturing capacity by more than 12 percent.
