VALLEY FORGE, Pa. - CertainTeed Corporation joined building
industry professionals across the United States in support of Habitat for
Humanity’s second national Home Builders Blitz from May 31 to June 7.
As a national partner for the project, CertainTeed is
donating roofing, vinyl and fiber cement siding, insulation and gypsum
wallboard products. The Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz engages
professional builders to make affordable housing available in their communities
by donating time, building materials and subcontractor services to build homes
in just one week. During this year’s build, approximately 1,000 building
industry professionals will donate homebuilding materials as well as kick start
an accelerated build, constructing more than 250 homes in partnership with 110
Habitat affiliates throughout 34 states. The accelerated build will serve to
house more than 1,000 people. The concept behind Habitat’s Home Builders Blitz
originated in 2002 with Tom Gipson, a professional home builder in Raleigh,
N.C., who supported Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to eliminate poverty housing
in his community. For more information about Habitat’s Home Builders Blitz,
