An accredited Green Roof Professional (GRP), Spirou has nine years of proven experience as a project manager and quality control manager in the construction industry, including positions with Opus South Contractors, Tampa, Fla. and The Haskell Company, Jacksonville, Fla. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in building construction management from the University of North Florida and earned his master’s of business administration at the University of Miami. He is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in sustainable construction from the University of Florida.

Pat Huempfner

Georgia-Pacific Gypsum has announced changes to its gypsum roofing division to continue to provide superior service to its customers. Pat Huempfner is now Director - Commercial Roofing / Systems Sales. His efforts will be focused on DensDeck Roof Board sales, systems manufacturer business development and customer management. Huempfner has been with Georgia-Pacific Gypsum since 1984. Kyle Giunta has been promoted to National Sales Manager of Division 7 independent representatives.

John Hurst

He will manage the independent network of roofing representatives across the U.S. Giunta has been with Georgia-Pacific Gypsum since 1995 and most recently served as a district manager. John Hurst has been promoted to Systems Sales Manager and will continue to focus on commercial roofing and walls system manufacturer business development opportunities. Hurst has been with Georgia-Pacific Gypsum for the past 11 years and has 20 years of experience in the building product industry.

Chris Salazar

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA), a national trade association representing manufacturers of cold applied protective roof coatings, cements, and suppliers of industry products, recently awarded Chris Salazar, vice-president of sales & marketing at Karnak Corporation, as the recipient of the RCMA's prestigious Martin A. Davis Industry Leadership Award for 2011. Salazar is the 27th recipient of the Martin A. Davis Industry Leadership Award and was presented with this honor at this year’s RCMA Annual Conference and Expo, March 26-30, 2011, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Martin A. Davis Industry Leadership Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association. The award is presented annually to an individual, selected by his or her peers, who has exemplified outstanding service and made significant contributions to the roof coatings industry. The award was first presented in 1985 posthumously to one of RCMA's visionary founding members, Martin A. Davis, and subsequently designated in his memory.

Jay Butch

Roofing industry veteran Jay Butch has been promoted to director of contractor programs for CertainTeed Roofing. This promotion is the result of his significant contribution to the development and implementation of top-notch roofing contractor programs.

During his 13-year career at CertainTeed, Butch has established and increasingly bolstered the company’s roofing contractor credential program’s reputation as the benchmark of contractor effectiveness. He has played a leading role in the development of programs that enhance contractors’ business and marketing skills. Additionally, as the result of his leadership, contractors are maximizing their bottom lines through CertainTeed’s innovative reward programs.

Butch holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Temple University and an MBA from DeSales University.

Chris Martinez

Polyglass U.S.A., Inc., a manufacturer of modified bitumen membranes and roof coatings in the commercial and residential roofing industry, recently appointed Chris Martinez to the newly created position of National Accounts Manager. In this role, Martinez will focus on building partnerships with Polyglass national accounts. Prior to this position, he successfully served as Polyglass’ Central Regional Sales Manager. Due to the strength and business experience of its Eastern, Western and Pacific Northwest Regional Sales Managers, Polyglass is re-configuring the United States sales management coverage plan. The Metal Construction Association (MCA), an organization of manufacturers and suppliers whose metal wall and roofing components are used in buildings throughout North America, has welcomed Rick Perry as its new technical and research manager. Perry will lead Codes and Standards activities and support many of MCA's technical and research projects, complementing the work that Scott Kriner, MCA's current technical director, continues to lead. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo in Ohio and has over 25 years in product design, development, and manufacturing; related to the residential and commercial building supply industry. He has professional training in project management and Lean Six Sigma. He held a similar role at the Window & Door Manufacturers Association for eight years, where he was involved in the development of performance standards, authored technical reports, and worked with committees to manage projects and publications.
