ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Leaders of ATAS International, Inc. successfully completed Supervisor Boot Camp, a course offered by Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, Pa. The course is part of the Leadership & Workforce Development Center program with funding from a “Careers on the Move” Grant provided by the U.S. Department of Labor. The grant was awarded to the college in April 2008 to strengthen the workforce skills in the advanced manufacturing industry, as well as logistics and transportation, in 13 counties in eastern and northeastern Pennsylvania.

The three-hour classes typically occurred twice per week from Jan. 7 to March 16. Upon completion, each participant was awarded a certificate of completion and 4.5 CEUs. ATAS participants included: JoAnn Hersh, Anne Hicks, Glenn Hechler, Nancy Gregoris, Rita Juliano, John Parry, Dave Smith, Gary Miller, Lee Ann Slattery, Julio Cintron, Chad Hagenbuch, Will Saruba, Dave Schwindenhammer, Chris Suhaka, Travis Bohn, Chris Mann, Jim Bush, Doug George, Karla Milkovitz and Scott Miller.

ATAS requested current managers and supervisors, as well as prospective leaders, to attend the course. They represented a broad cross section from many departments. The content covered listening skills, stress management, conflict management, team building, problem solving, coaching, time management and other related concepts.

“I think it is important to always learn new skills while improving on already proven methods,” said ATAS President Dick Bus. “ATAS was fortunate to take part in this program to strengthen the manufacturing skills in Pennsylvania, and we encourage other manufacturers to get involved.”
