BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Tremco Inc. is proud to have recently received an Award of Excellence in the Renovation, Small Project category from the Cleveland Engineering Society’s (CES) Design and Construction Division for our headquarters renovation. Bestowed during the CES 60th Annual Design & Construction Conference, the award was given “In recognition of the excellence in overall design, engineering and construction by renovating and retrofitting an outdated facility to create a modern, sustainable, comfortable and functional environment for employees, clients and the community.”

“We’re delighted to have been chosen as a 2012 Award of Excellence and want to thank the Cleveland Engineering Society’s Design and Construction Division for this honor,” said company president Randy Korach.

The goal of Tremco’s comprehensive, foundation-to-roof renovation of its circa 1970 headquarters building was making it a sustainable showcase – a high-performance, energy-efficient facility requiring less water, using renewable energy sources and substantially reducing operating costs. Results to date show major decreases in gas, electric and water consumption. Among the many sustainable solutions used in the renovation are a wind turbine, vegetated and photovoltaic roofs, a water capture and reuse system, and energy-efficient façade and windows. The project generated more than two million pounds of construction debris and sent nothing to landfills.

The award comes approximately one month after the facility received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
