ROSEMONT, Ill. — The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) has released its fall-protection compliance program, Serving up Safety: A Recipe for Avoiding Falls on the Job, a video program addressing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) fall-protection requirements for roofing work, including requirements for state-plan states.

The comprehensive training program includes a DVD with six hours of video content explaining fall-protection rules pertaining to each of the 50 states, as well as a companion instructors guide, student guide and student handout, regulatory excerpts from state and federal agencies, a final examination tailored to specific states, and a customizable certificate of completion.

The program is available in English and Spanish and discusses terms and definitions, low- and steep-slope roofing, and self-rescue and assisted rescue from falls. Additional resources include federal OSHA regulations, as well as regulations from states enforcing their own rules that differ from federal OSHA and interpretations from each jurisdiction.
