KANKAKEE, Ill. — IKO has presented the company’s inaugural Standard of Excellence Award to New England’s LaValley-Middleton Building Supply, Inc.
Best known as LaValley’s, the family-owned business has been serving homeowners and contractors since 1962 at locations in New Hampshire and Vermont. LaValley’s continues to grow its business by embracing new technology.
Greg Stout and Jon Pierce regularly record TV commercials for LaValley’s. Called the Home Improvement Minute, the segments are subsequently uploaded to YouTube and featured on LaValley’s website in a growing video reference library.

A recent TV advertisement starring IKO roofing products caught the attention of John DeRosa, who conducts training seminars for IKO’s contractors throughout North America.
“What impressed me most about LaValley’s commercial is that, in just one minute, Greg and Jon accomplished so much,” DeRosa said. “They positioned LaValley’s as an expert, promoted five products that comprise the IKO roofing system, and provided helpful information to potential roofing customers. I felt that LaValley’s outstanding effort to attract and engage customers through clever use of modern technology deserved to be recognized.”
Director of Marketing Carol Perkins concurs. “IKO’s corporate tagline is Setting the Standard. That has always referred to the company’s commitment to innovation and to engineering roofing products that set the bar in our industry. We’re very pleased to recognize distributors like LaValley’s. Not only do they stock IKO products, now they’re setting new standards of excellence in marketing them.”
As a result, IKO’s Marketing Department has created the Standard of Excellence Award for the company’s stocking distributors who go above and beyond to support IKO’s products and programs. LaValley-Middleton Building Supply, Inc. is the first to receive the honor.“In addition to receiving a commemorative plaque, LaValley’s now-award-winning TV commercial will be featured on IKO’s newly re-launched website and highlighted in trade magazines, rewarding the company with further publicity,” Perkins said. “We trust this will inspire others to reach for the top in their marketing efforts as well.”
