PLEASANTON, Calif. — Simpson Strong-Tie announced it will make a $10,000 donation to assist in relief response and recovery efforts following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake and powerful aftershocks that shook Nepal on April 25.
The epicenter of the earthquake was the village of Barpak in the Gorkha District. The quake and aftershocks resulted in thousands of lives lost, twice as many injuries and hundreds of thousands of homes and buildings destroyed across the country.
The donation will be given to the American Red Cross Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund and will aid in providing food, shelter and other assistance to those affected by the earthquake. The company is also encouraging its employees to contribute to the fund.
“Two years ago, I had the amazing opportunity to visit Kathmandu and I’m saddened to think of the overwhelming devastation for the families and communities of Nepal,” said Simpson Strong-Tie CEO Karen Colonias. “We hope this donation can help contribute to the recovery there.”
