AUGUSTA, Maine — In a public address at the Blaine House this morning, Governor Paul LePage announced the recipients of the 2015 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence. Among the winners was Horch Roofing of Warren, Maine. Horch provides commercial and residential roofing products and services, including asphalt roofing, seamless gutters, EPDM rubber roofing, and metal roofing, which it fabricates at its headquarters.
“These businesses represent the best of the best here in Maine,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “I am particularly pleased that each of these businesses has shown a commitment to investment, innovation, their communities, and to our great state. I thank each of them for doing business in Maine.”
In order to be chosen as a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence, a business must go above and beyond the norm in serving its customers, employees, and community. Horch Roofing has excelled in all three areas of service through efforts such as the Reroof and Recycle program, which has reduced solid waste by converting over 6 million pounds of roofing waste into aggregate paving material; a rigorous workplace safety and training program that has resulted in no major accidents or serious injuries in more than 1,000 projects; and contributions of volunteer time and donations to many of Midcoast Maine’s worthy nonprofit organizations. Factors such as these, together with the company’s success as the Midcoast’s largest roofing contractor, helped set Horch Roofing apart when the Governor made his decision.
Upon receiving the award from the Governor, Horch Roofing President Peter Horch expressed his sincere gratitude to his team and to the communities that have long supported the company, saying, “It is a tremendous honor to receive this prestigious award and to be recognized as one of the leading businesses in Maine for our commitment to our customers, employees, and community. All three are at the core of our company’s efforts. We give our all each day and we are grateful for this recognition.”
Horch Roofing was nominated for the Governor’s Award by Shannon Kinney, founder and client success officer of Dream Local Digital in Rockland, who said, “This award has a rigorous application procedure and very high standards. Traditionally, you don’t find a company in the building or roofing trades that meets these high standards of service to customers, employees AND the community, however Horch Roofing is different. Horch Roofing exemplifies this commitment, and we easily found happy customers, community organizations that have received significant donations and help from Horch Roofing, and grateful employees who would speak in support of the nomination. I am so proud to see the Governor recognize this Midcoast Maine company with this important award. They truly deserve it.”
