AMI has revealed the programme for its 10th annual international conference on Waterproof Membranes, which will take place from 7-9th November 2016 at the Maritim Hotel in the centre of Cologne, Germany.

Waterproof membranes have been used for centuries to protect dwellings from water ingress but over the years their role has expanded into protection of a wide range of buildings and infrastructures, together with playing a critical role in the conservation, protection and distribution of water. Fueled by a growing population the demand for waterproof membranes is rising but so too are the performance requirements, environmental scrutiny and competitive challenges.

At the high end of the market architects are seeking solutions to a range of design and application challenges often to meet more demanding climatic conditions. At the commodity end of the market architects are seeking to minimise construction costs. At the same time there is an increasing range of materials and technologies that may be selected.

The Waterproof Membranes 2016 conference provides the opportunity for those active in the industry to learn about recent developments, through 20 high level presentations, and network with leading participants in the sector.

The conference opens with papers to outline market trends that are shaping the membranes sector. Presented by AMI Consulting, Carlisle Construction Materials and FDT Flachdach Technologie respectively the papers will evaluate trends in: the European membrane industry; green technology in the US roofing market; and sustainability and standardisation in single ply roofing in Europe.  The theme of European harmonisation is later picked up by SGS Intron which will present on the pitfalls of European Product Declaration.
