MALVERN, Pa. – CertainTeed® Solar recently partnered with Solar Energy International (SEI) through the donation of an Apollo® II solar roofing array to the organization’s Paonia, Colo. training facility. The solar shingles, which are integrated into the roof of an equipment storage outbuilding, will generate power for the facility and provide attending students with a first-hand look at the training facility’s first building-integrated solar products.

"Solar Energy International utilizes a wide array of PV systems at our campus as a part of our technical training program,” said Kris Sutton, director of operations for SEI. “We're really pleased to have added the CertainTeed Apollo II array to the mix.”

CertainTeed supplied SEI with a 4kW Apollo II solar roofing system for this project. Apollo II uses high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar cells to capture the most energy per square foot of any solar shingle product, while simultaneously functioning as the roof and protecting the building from water intrusion.

“Education is seen as essential at CertainTeed,” said Kate Collardson, solar services manager for CertainTeed Solar. “It has been a privilege to partner with SEI to introduce innovative solar technology to students across the globe.”

The donation of the Apollo II system to the campus was presented by CertainTeed Solar to SEI in support of the organization’s solar projects and training.

“Thanks to CertainTeed for their generous donation which allows us to showcase another promising solar application to the thousands of students that pass through our campus,” said Sutton.

All CertainTeed Solar systems are available nationwide. For more information, visit www.certainteedsolar.com.
