AUSTIN, Texas - Kidd Roofing of Austin, Texas, recently hosted a Hurricane Harvey donation drive on Thursday, Aug. 31 at their Austin office with the University of Houston football team and Head Coach, Major Applewhite. The football team had been relocated to Austin for several days due to the devastating floods in the Houston area caused by Hurricane Harvey. Several other colleges such as the University of Texas, SMU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas State and North Texas donated their football trailers for the donation drive to load up the donated supplies and send them to the Houston area. The convoy of semi’s left early Friday morning and delivered the much needed supplies.

“We were just glad to be able to help out in some way,” said Chris Lowe of Kidd Roofing. “Several of us have friends and family in the Houston area that were affected by the floods. When we were asked by the University of Houston to help host a donation drive and collect the much needed supplies with the football players and coaches, it was a no-brainer.  It was also really great to see so many of the other colleges donate their trailers to transport the donations down to Houston.”

According to Lowe, “Even if your company isn’t involved in repairing roofs in the affected areas, there are other ways to assist such as donating to the Red Cross or other relief funds. It’s going to take a lot of time and money to rebuild these affected areas.  Every little bit helps.”
