The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) recently announced the dates for the second annual Roofing Day, April 3-4 in Washington, D.C.

The initiative is part of the NRCA’s overall emphasis on improving the roofing industry’s perception and standing by speaking with one unified voice on Capitol Hill when it comes to key issues. More than 400 roofing contractors and roofing industry stakeholders from 47 states attended the first national Roofing Day in Washington last March. Separated into lobbying groups by their respective states, participants met with elected officials and their key staff to discuss immigration, workforce development and regulation throughout the day.

Roofing Day was the first coordinated advocacy event on Capitol Hill dedicated solely to roofing in the industry’s history, and it was among the top 10 percent of all national legislative fly-in events last year, according to the NRCA website.

“I didn’t know what to expect, but thought it was great to be part of something that’s going to influence the future of the industry for roofing contractors like me,” said Tom Deichert Jr., project manager with ROOF Management of Farmington Hills, Mich. “It was quite the experience and I’d definitely go back.”
Further details about accommodations and registration should be released within a few months.
