The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) will host its third annual fly-in to advocate for the roofing industry on Capitol Hill April 21-22, 2020 in Washington, D.C.
Better known as Roofing Day, the event draws hundreds of roofing contractors and other industry stakeholders together to meet with members of congress and their staffs. Divided into state delegations, participants deliver coordinated messages about the most important legislative and regulatory issues affecting the roofing industry.
The unique and exciting opportunity to converge on Capitol Hill and speak with “one voice” started two years ago, when participants advocated for immigration policy, jobs training programs and regulatory reform. Last April, hundreds of participants from all segments of the roofing industry met again to deliver similar messages to legislators. In more than 300 separate meetings, roofing professionals discussed the urgent need for immigration reform that meets the roofing industry’s workforce needs; expanded workforce training incentives; and a robust buildings component for infrastructure legislation currently being debated by lawmakers.
Among the highlights was a meeting between top NRCA officials and acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, a first for the industry.
