ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Roofing Alliance, the foundation of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), is seeking projects for its annual Call for Funding.
Committed to promoting and funding the advancement of roofing through research, education, technology and philanthropic programs, the Roofing Alliance funds critical research, education and technical projects for the betterment of the roofing industry.
This year’s submittal deadline for funding applications is Jan. 1, 2020.
The foundation has allocated more than $5 million to fund close to 50 research, technical and philanthropic programs and projects to support educational programs and ensure forward-thinking responses to economic and technological issues. Ultimately, the Roofing Alliance looks for projects that enhance the performance of the U.S. roofing industry.
Bennett Judson, Roofing Alliance executive director, shared that a total of $270,276 in project funding was approved in 2019.
“Approximately 70 percent of funding dollars were earmarked for continuing initiatives, committee projects and programs including the ongoing partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities®, the Roofing Alliance Student Competition and construction management partnerships with universities,” Judson said.
A few of the projects funded in 2019 focused on future workforce development. In an ongoing effort to build the professional reputation of roofing while working to increase interest in working in the roofing industry, the Roofing Alliance provided funding for the NRCA’s partnership with SkillsUSA.
SkillsUSA serves middle-school, high-school, and college/post-secondary students and seeks to improve the quality of the United States’ future skilled workforce through the development of personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.
As part of the funding plan, a joint committee has been formed with NRCA and Roofing Alliance members to focus on Career and Technical Education (CTE) outreach with SkillsUSA as a first and integral step for the initiative.
