As the world continues to struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) is among the latest roofing and construction associations to postpone a conference.

IIBEC and co-host, the National Research Council of Canada, announced the decision to postpone the ICBEST 2020 Conference to 2022. In an email, Brian Pallasch, CEO/EVP of IIBEC, said the decision was made amidst continued COVID-19 closures and travel bans.

"As we continue to operate during unprecedented times, we must make decisions that we would not normally consider so close to an event date," Pallasch said in the email.

Information about ICBEST 2022 will be forthcoming, but IIBEC said the educational track that would have been presented in Vancouver will be a part of the IIBEC 2020 Virtual Canadian Building Enclosure Symposium (CBES). This event will take place Sept. 22-24, 2020, and will consist of educational presentations and a virtual trade show. The virtual education and trade show will be available online through Oct. 25, meaning attendees can enjoy the exhibit booths and courses at their leisure.

Along with the CBES, IIBEC is planing on holding its Building Enclosure Symposium+ (BES+) from Nov. 20-22, 2020 at the Marriott Marquis Houston in Texas. At that event, a dozen educational sessions by imminent industry professionals will be presented. The BES+ trade show will also be expanded to provide exhibitors an opportunity to interact face to face with attendees.
