The Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA) announced the appointment of Joel Viera to serve as its executive director. Viera began serving in his new role as of Aug. 1.
"We are very much looking forward to having Joel lead the next chapter for WSRCA," said Leo Ibarra, president of the WSRCA Board.
Viera draws on 19 years of experience and knowledge with the WSRCA, where he recently served as the director of expo and events. In his time with the WSRCA, he has rounded out his resume through numerous positions, including trade show coordinator, director of member services, director of the Davis Memorial Foundation fundraising events, and director of the Western Roofing Expo, which went virtual for the first time this year due to the pandemic.
"Joel is very deserving of the position and has everyone's full support," said Mike Wakerling, WSRCA board of director. "We know how big a part he has played in the success of the association over the years."
Viera has a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice administration from San Jose State University. In his free time, he volunteers his time coaching youth sports and giving back to his community.
“I know with Joel’s experience in the trenches he will offer a new perspective on things and has the right attitude to lead WSRCA into the future for many years,” said Andy Clarke, WSRCA board of director.
Viera said he is honored to have the opportunity to become the executive director, calling it his "dream job."
“I am looking forward to bringing energy and enthusiasm, a fresh perspective, and my passion and love for the association to the dedicated team of staff and volunteers at Western States," Viera said. "Together, we will continue to build upon WSRCA’s successful history of connecting and educating the roofing community.”
