It’s said everything is bigger in Texas, and in this case, giving back to a U.S. Marine Corps veteran was so big it caused two competing roofing contractors to join forces.
Fox-affiliated KJTV-TV shares the story of Kincaid Roofing and Andrus Brothers Roofing in Lubbock County, Texas, teaming up to provide a new roof free of charge to Marine veteran Russell Snodgrass and his family. The project is part of the Owens Corning National Roof Deployment Project.
“The West Texas Home Builders Association donates a roof every year to a deserving veteran,” Kris Kincaid, with Kincaid Roofing, told KJTV-TV. “The two of us, including Owens Corning, our material supplier and manufacturer, has donated the material, we're doing the labor.”
The Roof Deployment Project sees independent Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractors partnering with the company to give military families new, free roofs as a showing of gratitude for their service. More than 60 new roofs have been installed since its formation in 2016.
"What better cause than to give back to a veteran who's fought for our nation, and these two companies, Kincaid and Andrus, obviously compete against each other, but we have a lot of respect for each other. I think it's cool we can come together for the same cause," Kincaid said.
