HOUSTON, Texas — Joshua Flores, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran turned roofing entrepreneur, has officially launched Paratus Roofing in Sugarland, Texas. The Houston-based company specializes in a variety of commercial services under the broader industry umbrellas of roofing, restoration and maintenance. Offerings include inspections, cleaning, replacement, storm preparations, insurance claim representation, maintenance, repair programs and consulting.
The name Paratus was born out of the U.S. Coast Guard motto of “Semper Paratus,” which means “always ready.” Expanding upon that ethos, Flores hopes to extend the same core values of his service to the country — honor, respect and devotion to duty — to his clients.
The Louisiana native first entered the roofing industry in 2016, rapidly rising through the ranks at Quick Roofing, where he emerged as one of the company’s top salespeople. In 2018, he made the decision to pivot from roofing sales to product sales, accepting the position of district sales manager at Tropical Roofing Products.
As a result of this shift in focus, Flores began to better understand the full scope of roofing processes and procedures — as well as roofing materials themselves. His experience in sales combined with his evolving knowledge of the more hands-on aspects of the industry have collectively transformed him into a well-rounded expert who is fully equipped to solve his client's roofing issues regardless of the level of complexity.
“After spending eight years traveling the globe in the U.S. Coast Guard as a search and rescue swimmer and specializing in the interdiction of human and drug trafficking, I found a new passion in the roofing business,” said Flores. “My career path has not been traditional by any means, but I believe that my military background has been instrumental in my work ethic. I am committed to valuing the client’s perspective and will strive to be a great listener, problem solver, and service provider.”
