The Davis Memorial Foundation, now in its 24th year of supporting higher education, is accepting applications for its 2021 scholarship program.
The foundation, operated under the auspices of the Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA), holds various fundraisers to support the scholarships. Most recently, the Davis Memorial Foundation renamed its signature fundraising event the Bob Porter Memorial Golf Tournament in honor of Porter, a former WSRCA leader who passed away in 2020. Thanks to these fundraisers, the foundation is offering scholarships at $5,000 each for 2021.
Awards are based on academic/personal achievement, financial need and other factors, as deemed appropriate by the foundation's trustees. Candidates must meet the following requirements to qualify:
- Provisionally accepted as students into undergraduate or graduate degree programs for the coming academic year by accredited colleges, universities or vocational education programs.
- Resident of the states covered in the WSRCA service area including: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
- Affiliated with the roofing industry.
Applications are due by April 9, 2021. Click here for more information and to apply.
The foundation was established in memory of Larry Davis and his wife, Mary. Larry was an integral part of the roofing industry for many years, serving on several roofing industry association boards, including the WSRCA. The couple perished in a 1995 airplane accident near their home in Modesto while returning from a WSRCA board meeting. This fund was established to honor their support for industry education.
