SMRCA Announces 2021 Scholarship Winners

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Governors for the Scholarship Grant Committee awarded four Scholarship Grants to a college bound students in June 2021.
Commercial roofing contractors of Southeastern Michigan, through the Southeastern Michigan Roofing Contractors Association (SMRCA), along with the Roofers Union Local #149 annually award college scholarships to dependents of employees of member roofing contractors.
This year’s winners were: Eloise Emery – Lake Orion; Samantha Kirk – Taylor; Julianna Lauzon – Rochester Hills; and Katelyn McFall – Flat Rock.
Applicants were asked to submit an essay to the Joint Union/Contractor Scholarship Committee on one or more of the following topics: Roofing technology, roofing safety, roofing impact or roofing ethics. Winners receive scholarships in the amount of $1,000 contributed by the SMRCA, Roofers Union Local #149 and the Contractor Employer.
Initiated over 20 years ago, the program is an example of the SMRCA/Roofers Union Local #149 and SMRCA member contractors working to promote continued education and to encourage industry dependents to attend college.
