Owens Corning is introducing “Midnight” as the newest shingle color in its TruDefinition® Duration® COOL Plus Shingles collection. The new black shingle brings a richly saturated dimensional element to the home’s roof while delivering a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of greater than 20.
Like other colors in the TruDefinition Duration Cool Plus Shingles collection, Midnight meets the prescriptive Cool Roof requirements of California Title 24, Part 6 and the Green Building Standards Code of Los Angeles County.
The Midnight shingle color is available exclusively in California. Shingles in Owens Corning’s Cool Roof Collection can contribute to more comfortable indoor environments, and they may also help lower household energy consumption by keeping the roof cooler.
The latest addition to the seven-color product line, Midnight is specially designed to reflect the sun’s energy and absorb less heat than standard shingles, while offering a deep, rich color option to boost a home’s curb appeal. TruDefinition Duration COOL Plus Shingles also come with the advanced performance of patented SureNail® technology.
From a compliance perspective, Midnight meets the Green Building Standards Code of Los Angeles County, California Title 24, Part 6 and is rated with the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC, ID #0890-0038). It also meets Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing program requirements.
TruDefinition Duration COOL Plus Shingles are available exclusively in California, a state with a robust history of advancing energy efficient building codes. More information is available on Owens Corning’s COOL Roof Collection page.
