MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Gulf Coast Supply & Manufacturing recently celebrated a safety milestone as the company’s Montgomery location passed the one-year mark without a recordable incident. This safety achievement spanned both 2021 and 2022.
Shawn Kirk, Gulf Coast Supply’s vice president of operations, says the Montgomery location “has now achieved a primary metric around our top priority for its first time — safety."
"These kinds of achievements take a significant commitment from our leadership and team members to achieve," Kirk said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) defines a recordable as any work-related injury or illness that requires medical treatment beyond first aid or results in loss of consciousness, days away from work, restricted work or transfer to another job.
“To achieve this milestone is significant not just to the company, but to our associates in Montgomery,” said Gulf Coast Supply President Harry Yeatman. “They know they are being led by leaders who value their well-being over all other measures of success.”
The Montgomery location manufactures an extensive array of metal roofing products to Gulf Coast Supply’s customers in the Southeast. It is the company’s second largest manufacturing facility.
