Although supply issues are top of mind as of late, roofing professionals from around the country tackled the much larger issue of workforce shortages during the 2022 Roofing Day.

On April 5-6, more than 250 roofing professionals from around the country visited Washington, D.C. to speak with their congressional representatives about potential solutions to the industry’s labor shortage. The annual event is organized by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA).

In this podcast, hear from some of the roofing contractors who attended and discover the importance attending Roofing Day.

“I’m very worried about the labor situation, immigration is a huge issue that needs to be fixed,” said Brad Van Dam, president of Single Ply Roofing Industry. “Some of the asks that NRCA has put out here are important and I think that Congress needs to hear.”

This year’s event was the last that Reid Ribble would attend as the NRCA’s CEO. He shares his thoughts on this and his upcoming retirement at the end of May.

Next year’s Roofing Day is scheduled for April 18 and 19, 2023. Read our coverage of Roofing Day and visit nrca.net for more information. For more podcasts about roofing industry news and events, head to Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
