Wisconsin-based JF Lopez Roofing aims to create legacy “on which our grandchildren will be proud,” and recently took another step on that road with a milestone donation.
The roofing contractor partnered with Habitat for Humanity and GAF on June 10 to donate a roof to a local family in need. The project marked the company’s 50th donation.
"It's all about food, shelter, and clothing. So we are in the shelter business. Hey, this is a good organization. If you want to change the world, start in your neighborhood and this is changing families for generations,” Mark Bartolutti, co-owner of JF Lopez Roofing, told Fox-affiliated WLUK.
Habitat for Humanity partners with people and companies to help people build and improve houses they can call home. In this case, the roof went onto the home of the Chang family and their nine children in Menasha, Wis. JF Lopez Roofing began its partnership with Habitat for Humanity in 2016 and aims to donate 100 roofs to Habitat homes.
In addition to its Habitat work, the company holds annual turkey donations to provide local families with dinners during the holiday season. It’s provided more than 3,400 meals to local families through the program. It also supports the Fond du Lac Soccer Association.
A time capsule will be stored under the roof that was signed by family members and staff.
