Dozens of roofing contractors and roofing-related companies earned spots on Inc. Magazine’s 2022 Inc. 5000 list, proving the industry is resilient and essential regardless of the pandemic or supply chain woes.

Each year, Inc. Magazine ranks the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the nation. Each company is ranked by their percentage of growth over a three-year period. This year’s list tracked revenue from 2018-2021, which was literally plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic and global supply shortages.

“The accomplishment of building one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., in light of recent economic roadblocks, cannot be overstated,” said Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Inc. is thrilled to honor the companies that have established themselves through innovation, hard work, and rising to the challenges of today.”

For companies to qualify, they must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent — not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies — as of Dec. 31, 2021. The minimum revenue required for 2018 is $100,000; the minimum for 2021 is $2 million.

Blue Hammer Roofing, headquartered in Dallas, reported a blistering growth of 15,911%, making it the fastest growing roofing company in the nation and earning the 17th spot on this year’s list. This is also the first time the company made the list.

“This growth includes the 2020 pandemic year where we had to dig deep to find a way to win in a tough door knocking environment,” the company said in a Facebook post.

Blue Hammer Roofing also made the Top 100 list of 2022, earning the 63rd spot with a total of $29 million in revenue from 2021.

“With an accrued 2021 revenue of $29 million with over 100 contractors who joined without active recruitment strategies, (we’re) on pace for a projected valuation in 2022 for $100-plus,” said Maria Nguyen, owner.

Blue Hammer Roofing isn’t the only company to have made both the Inc. 5000 and Top 100. RestoreMasters in Ardmore, Okla., returned to both lists for 2022, earning the 437th spot on the Inc. 5000 for 1,420% growth and the 33rd spot on the Top 100 with $62 million in revenue.

"Working in the competitive spaces of roofing and building restoration, we're honored to be recognized for the growth of our company," co-owner Matt Irvin said. "It's hard work, but RestoreMasters has some of the best people in the industry who live our motto every day to serve, sacrifice, and deliver."

This year, Thoroughbred Construction Group from Ashland, Ky., was named one of RC’s Next 30 — contractors on the cusp of making the Top 100. It also placed 2,795 on the Inc. 5000 list thanks to a 198% growth. Chad Dowdy, vice president, said the company expanded both its digital approach for leads but also its in-house structure to obtain more referrals within all departments.

“For 2022, we expect to replicate our 2021 financials and we are hoping to exceed our expectations and be the best year again,” said Dowdy.

Other companies supporting the roofing industry made the Inc. 5000 as well, such as STACK Construction Technologies and SRS Distribution. This is STACK’s sixth consecutive year making the list, and is the eighth time SRS earned a spot on the list.

“It’s been another phenomenal year at STACK, and it’s such an honor to be recognized on this list for our sixth year, along with so many other successful companies,” said Philip Ogilby, CEO and co-founder of STACK.
