GAF and officials from Michigan City, Ind. celebrated the grand opening of a new GAF distribution center.
Although the distribution center has been open since November, city leaders and GAF representatives held the ceremony on Thursday. The facility includes a 200,000 square-foot warehouse and 28 acres of outdoor storage and loading space and is ideally located between the GAF manufacturing plant and I-94 for quick access to a main transportation artery. It employs 30 workers from the greater Michigan City area who are responsible for controlling the flow of GAF products and ensuring timely delivery to customers.
The new distribution center increases capacity and improves shipping efficiency for GAF products throughout the Central U.S. region.
“So this is where we want to be,” Randy Bargfrede, the COO of GAF, told NBC-affiliated WNDU. “This is a pivotal plant for us for the long term. We see nothing in our future here except for further development and further investment into this distribution facility and into the community.”
