KENT, Ohio — SprayWorks Equipment recently began offering foam containing hydrofluoroolefin (HFO). Many states now require spray foam applicators to use closed cell foam that does not contain hydrofluorocarbon (HFC).
In 2020, the Clean Air Act established SNAP to begin phasing out ozone-depleting substances, which included some closed cell spray foams. SprayWorks Equipment began offering two types of HFO Foam, 2.0 HFO Closed Cell Spray Foam and a Low GWP Closed Cell Spray Foam, both containing no ozone-depleting chemicals. The materials can be used in any environment where closed cell foam is needed.
"We felt it was important to make compliance easy for our customers," said Ryan Coffman, material specialist, SprayWorks Equipment. "We anticipate an influx of states banning HFCs so we want to make sure our customers are ready for that."
