A roofing contractor made a grim discovery when they happened upon skeletal remains while working on a home in Jacksonville, Fla.
According to reporting from ABC- and NBC-affiliated WTLV and WJXX, the roofer called 911 around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 14 to report what they found. When detectives spoke with the property owner, they said the home was supposed to be vacant for about a year. The remains were apparently found next to a bed in the home.
As of publication, police say no foul play is suspected but have been in contact with the property owner and neighbors as their investigation continues.
Making startling discoveries while working on a roof is an unfortunate hazard of the job. Roofers have found everything from explosives to wild animals while working on roofs.
