In its efforts to support the next generation of roofing professionals, roofing manufacturer Castagra has named a construction management student the recipient of its 2023 Roofing Scholarship Program.
The annual scholarship program was designed to support individuals seeking a career in roofing or a similar field, especially those who express interests in innovation and sustainability. This year's winner is Quinton Godfrey, who is currently attending Western Carolina University to pursue a career in construction management.
“My goal is to give back to my community by speaking and educating kids on what it takes to pursue a successful career in construction, which is something I wish I had growing up," Godfrey said in a written statement. "I've never seen any black construction managers in person or on TV, this is something that I will change. I envision myself playing a vital role in implementing sustainable roofing solutions."
Godfrey's aspirations include becoming the CEO of a large construction company with a focus on sustainability. He said he wants to use environmentally-safe materials to minimize the carbon footprint of construction projects and potentially develop more durable and weather-resistant roofing materials. He aims to remain involved in community outreach programs and educational initiatives to improve the industry.
"Quinton is deeply passionate about contributing to the roofing industry and promoting sustainability in the field through the use of environmentally-friendly materials and practices," Castagra said in a news release.
