As the Latino roofer population continues to grow, so does its collective influence on the industry. In an effort to help better represent Latino roofers and enhance Latino roofing contractor experiences at the industry’s biggest show, the Latinos in Roofing Associated (LIRA) will have a booth at IRE 2024 in Las Vegas. The new group is led by President Brunno Batitsa and a collection of industry veterans who come from roofing companies, manufacturers, distributors, and other service providers.
Roofing Contractor magazine conducted a brief question and answer with the organization.
RC: When was LIRA founded, and what is its mission?
LIRA: LIRA (Latinos In Roofing Association) was founded in 2023, and its mission is to be the voice for the 80% of the Roofing Industry workforce who are Latino. Our vision is to see this community represented in leadership and executive positions in numbers that are representative of that 80%.
RC: What is the significance of being on the IRE show floor this year?
LIRA: To introduce the roofing community to LIRA!
RC: What will roofing contractors get by visiting the booth?
LIRA: The power of knowledge. We want our guests to come away with an understanding of what LIRA is and how it will serve the community.
RC: What else do roofing contractors need to know?
LIRA: That we need them! LIRA will become the biggest organization of its kind, and local/regional chapters will become the backbone for growth and outreach.
