ABC Supply Co., the bellwether distributor of roofing and exterior products, is apparently mounting a full-court press into Canada after announcing on Tuesday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Herman’s Supply Company, an Ontario, Canada-based roofing supplier.
The purchase, announced in an April 2 news release, follows ABC’s most recent north-of-the-border acquisition, All Canadian Building Products in British Columbia, which was just revealed at the end of last month. The Herman’s transaction is expected to close on April 8, 2024.
Herman’s Supply Company was founded by Herman and Anne Schrompf in 1969 in St. Catharines, Ontario. ABC said Herman’s subsequently expanded to 11 branches across Ontario and added a 12th location in West Seneca, NY, to serve the Buffalo market.
With Herman’s purchase, ABC now has footholds in British Columbia and Ontario, two of the country’s four most populous provinces. This latest acquisition marks ABC Supply’s introduction to the Ontario, Canada, market and growth in its New York market.
“Herman’s Supply Company’s commitment to unparalleled service has earned it generations of loyal customers,” ABC’s COO, Mike Jost, said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming their dedicated associates to our ABC Supply family and continuing to build a legacy of exceptional support across Ontario.”
The West Seneca, N.Y., location will become part of ABC Supply's U.S. operations, while the Ontario locations will operate as part of ABC Supply's Canadian division.
